Australian Scrapbook Ideas – Issue 18 – Tried & Tested Mix’d Media Inx "Boy Stuff"

Back again with another layout from my Mix’d Media Inx article in Issue 18 in the Australian Scrapbook Ideas magazine. This one is of my two favorite boys doing boy stuff in the shed!
I love these pics, I don’t know how I manage to catch a smile on Wil, they were both protesting, “do I have to with that camera?” LOL

Tip: Incorporate Cog embellishments with the cogs in the photos so they look like they are all connected.

Full step by step instructions for this layout can be found in the magazine!

Tip:  Add some sparkle to your embossing by adding a little fairy dust glitter to the  embossing  powder while it is still hot.

Tip:  Stamp and emboss a pattern on the background then ink over to create the resist technique, wipe the excess ink off the embossing with a paper towel.

Love Birds ~ Donna Salazar Designs ~ DT Swap

Hello There, I hope this post finds you all excited about the possibilities of the New Year Ahead.
And what an exciting year will it be for Jessy when she welcomes her beautiful bub into the world.
I hope you like this Jess, All your photos were just gorgeous, but I think this photo of the two of you is soo beautiful! So much love! x

Creating the Background
To make this background I have used torn strips from the Crafty Chronicle and have pasted them over the background of the storybook paper.

Next I have used a card to spread modelling paste over the background.

Then finished off with some spots of the Peridot Reinker then spritzed with water to blend and spread.
Not shown here but as an afterthought I also stamped the Dear Sir and Bricks Stamps on the background in Denim Ink.

Creating the Letters
I have used the GCD Compatibles “Donna’s Alphas” Chipboard Letters.
This is an easy technique to add a bit of interest to your letters and give them a rustic charm.
Step 1: Using a PVA glue like Helmar’s Tiger Grip randomly add some lines across the chipboard letters.
Step 2: Next place some of the Crafty Chronicles paper over the letters, print side up. Then leave this to dry.
Step 3: Once the glue has dried tear back the paper, it will tear away from the spots with no glue under it. Don’t worry if you tear a bit of the chipboard letter off too, this just adds to the charm.
If you prefer this not to happen hold your finger (or nail) on the chipboard letter under a loose edge of the paper while you tear away the excess.
Step 4: Next I have used my finger to spread a little of the Verdigris Reinker over the edges of the letter and a little on top. Add sparingly.  (I think the Verdigris is my new fave colour!!)

Step 5: Spritz the letters with a little water to blend the colour over the letter.
Step 6: I have also added a little of the Peridot Reinker to the edges.
Step 7: Then to finish off I used a black pen to draw an outline on the letters.
I hope you have enjoyed this simple technique!

Freedom ~ Jan ATC & Tutorial ~ Dusty Attic

Welcome to my first Dusty post for 2013. The theme for this months ATC Challenge is Fairies & Flutterbies. These butterflies will soon be available in the next new release.

Flying Chipboard Butterflies – Tutorial

I wanted to create some butterflies with the appearance that they were flying.
This is an easy technique to create movement in your chipboard butterflies.
I have used the new Butterflies #3 that are coming out in the next release.

Step 1: I have used 2 medium and one of the small butterflies.

Step 2: Soak the butterflies in water and separate into 3 layers so 3 butterflies then become 9

Step 3: While the chipboard is still wet curl up the edges of the butterflies, then dry with a heat gun. The heat gun will help the edges curl a little more too.
Step 4: Once dry I have coloured them with Smooch Spritz – Citrus Tickle, then painted the edges of the butterflies with white paint.
Step 5: Use two layers of the butterflies for the medium butterflies. To create the body take a piece of craft wire and add some beads.
Step 6: Then fold the wire around the butterfly going between the antlers and around the back.

Step 7:
To Make the small butterflies I have used each separate layer individually and gently poked the wire through  the middle of the chipboard. Add some PVA glue as you do this to hold it in place.
